Sunday Style: The Bardot Trend

Hello lovely people!

I am full of excitement today! It has been a lovely busy weekend and I am excited to share with you some great photos I shot for the blog.  Today’s look is an easy to wear sunday outfit.  Think brunch with friends and a gander around the shops, this outfit is all about relaxed fluid fabrics creating a laid back look with the monochrome palette keeping it classic.  A touch of pastel blue to add a pop of colour and some simple jewellery.

I adore the trend for bardot tops this summer, it is such a flattering stylish look which can be worn in so many ways.  I decided to pair my new bardot top from River Island with my black Zara culottes for a more polished Sunday look. I’m also excited to dress this top casually with some denim shorts, jeans and tucked into high-waisted skirts, so many outfit opportunities! For a trend piece this bardot off shoulder top is very versatile and I will get so much wear out of it.  It is a reasonable price at £25 so won’t break the bank and will definitely get you through some holidays and hot summer nights.

The 5 black dresses every girl needs

Hello! Welcome back to stylemewithlove

Hope everybody is doing well and had a fabulous weekend.  As the weather here in the UK was so beautiful I thought it was the perfect opportunity to shoot some new photos for the blog.
This week I decided to do a feature on five staple black dresses perfect for every girl’s wardrobe. Now, this feature is not meant to encourage you all to go and max out your credit cards in the quest for the perfect LBD – I will not be held responsible for any dress debts!  However some of these dresses I am sure most of you will already own and for those of you who don’t this is the perfect guide to the classic styles worth investing in. Some of these dresses I have owned for years and one was bought at the weekend. As I wear my clothes a lot I really think about which pieces are best for me to spend my money on.  I have a range of dresses that were all different price points and different brands. I have styled them with a range of accessories to show the different occasions each of them is perfect for.  I hope you enjoy this feature and it gives you some wardrobe inspiration!

First on my list of black staple dresses is the ‘workwear dress’.  This dress is perfect for office wear and interviews. It is the ultimate power dress and gives a professional impression as well as the look of ‘I mean business’. When investing in workwear dresses it is important that both the length and tailoring are appropriate. I love the feminine v neck on this Reiss dress, as it doesn’t reveal too much. When styling an office look keep it simple and wear with classic court shoes and a structured handbag, then an awesome watch to add some bling.

‘The maxi dress’ is a favourite of mine, I have had this one for about a year and bought it from a market in Sydney for around £55. I love maxi dresses for many reasons.  Firstly I love the boho look as it is such a fun summery look that can be glammed up or dressed down. It is easy to wear and perfect for those days when you want something comfortable yet impactful.  Layering three or four necklaces of different lengths can really add that glam boho look to a maxi dress too However if like mine the neckline is better without a necklace try layering rings or a pair of statement earrings.  I love this look for summer evenings and holidays as well as pairing it with a cropped leather to peruse the markets at the weekend.  The perfect day to evening wardrobe staple!

The famous ‘little black dress’ is a new addition to my wardrobe this weekend.  This off the shoulder slinky number was a steal in the New Look sale for just £9.  I have never owned a dress like this but I thought it was about time when I found this bargain, especially as it fits like a glove. The fit on a dress like this has to be amazing, you need to put it on and feel instantly fabulous and as you can probably tell be my pose in the photo I felt absolutely fab in this dress.  Teaming it with cat eye sun glasses gives it such a classic feel and just by changing up your accessories you can keep reinventing this dress time and time again.  It will take you from first date dinner to Saturday night on the town!

The ‘occasion dress’ is the one dress that is your back-up plan for any formal occasion from work events to weddings.  The a-line style of this dress is my favourite shape as it suits absolutely all body types and works pretty much anywhere.  It pulls you in at the waist and hides everything underneath, which is most women’s dream.

My final pick is the ‘party dress’. Short, frilly and perfect for holiday partying.  Teamed with a bright necklace and strappy shoes this look is fun and sexy.  The one I am wearing I bought five years ago from Jack Wills.  It was the perfect investment as it is a classic black silk dress.  The original price was about £100 however I got this heavily discounted as I worked for Jack Wills at the time.  It looks great with bright sandals but also with causal wedges and a denim jacket for a dressed down day to night look.  I love this dress and can’t wait to wear it for a bit of summer partying! Hopefully this glorious weather will make another appearance so I can get some more use out of it.

So there it is – my top five black dresses.  All worth investing in as they are timeless pieces you can wear for years.  I hope this blog post has  either inspired your next investment buys or has just shown you what kind of pieces to look out for in the summer sales.

As always I would love to hear from you with any questions or comments so please leave some.

Finding love in Tory Burch

They say when it’s love you just know. Who’s they? Well my friends to be honest. I took a trip to Bicester Village over the bank holiday weekend and heaven forbid I took my barely used credit card with me.  Well I was bound to fail at being well behaved wasn’t I.  Bicester Village is an amazing designer outlet here in the UK and as my friend had an extra 20% off VIP code I soon had to accept I was going to be purchasing something pretty.  That something pretty ended up being from the amazing Tory Burch.

So here it is my new dreamy bag! When I saw it from across the shop it was love at first sight and after a bit of looking in the mirror, posing with it and thinking I decided to just go for it. It’s such a classic design but the colour is so unique. It feels just like me and I can’t wait to wear it. I’ve been looking at some beautiful Tory Burch bags online for a while but didn’t imagine they would have so many amazing ones at the outlet. There are so many outfit opportunities popping into my head already but here is just a quick selfie that I took before work today, there will be many more to come.

The bag was reduced from £355 to £229 and then with an extra 20% off I got it for £183. Not bad for a beautiful leather bag.  It is very individual and to me is a great investment piece, something that will feel special every time I use it.  I am so happy with it.

Hope you all had a great weekend.  Back to a week at work now to pay for my bag.

Thank you for reading fashionistas!

Boyfriend Shorts: my new friend!

Hola Fashionistas!

Welcome back to stylemewithlove. Thank you for reading,  if you are new then welcome! Thank you for being here.

So today I just wanted to share a quick post with you to show you my new boyfriend shorts. These were a recent purchase in Primark and cost a very modest £10. Boyfriend shorts are a style of shorts that I have always loved on other people but never tried myself. I think because the length can be a little awkward on them, however fear not I have taken on the infamous boyfriend short and I tell you this I’m enjoying them very much so. To make them look more chic I decided to pair them with a classic trench coat, not only is it appropriate for the unreliable english weather but also makes them look a little more grown up. To keep an element of casualness I wore my white New Look flatform trainers (£12.99) and H&M white sweater. Then for finishing touches I added my very old but treasured quilted Reiss bag, like the trench I feel this adds a classic grown up take on this look.

I really like this combination as it was just a nice easy weekend shopping outfit and this is just one of many ways I plan to wear my new shorts. I imagine as the weather improves I can pair them with some little crop tops and breton tees, maybe adding a little backpack or satchel for fun summer days out. They also look great with heels and for a holiday outfit spot on! I love that there is so much you can do with them, so believe me this will not be the last you see of them on this blog. Go grab a pair this weekend.

Have a great weekeend lovelies.

One piece 10 ways: How I style culottes

Hi there fashionistas! How are we this week? Hope all is well and that you have all been taking lots of selfies!

I’ve had a busy week shooting some looks for this blog which I’m really excited about!

The first feature I would like to share with you lovely people is how to style culottes, in 10 different ways. I’ve recently become a fan of culotte trousers for many reasons. Firstly they are incredibly comfortable, I’m often not in the mood to wear tight skinny jeans or restrictive tight skirts, so culottes were the perfect addition to my wardrobe this season. Not only are they lightweight and comfortable, they also look very stylish and chic. They can add a new element to your work wardrobe as they are smart enough to wear with shirts and heels, but can also be worn with trainers for casual weekend wear.

When I invest in new pieces I like to think that there are many different looks I can go for. I love my clothes and like to get as much wear out of them as possible. This is something that everybody can do with their wardrobe when you already own some great classic core pieces.

Of course though we have to remember that fashion is fun and not everything you wear should be considered a classic staple, otherwise I think we would all be rather bored with our wardrobes. So every now and then buying those amazing vibrant pieces to spice up your staples is great. It’s all about creating a good balance between the two, when you achieve that you will be able to recreate those unique pieces over and over again.

Culottes £20 from Zara

So with three pairs of shoes, two bags, one necklace and just a selection of tops and jackets, you can see how many different looks you can achieve from one great item of clothing. I’ve mixed up the styling with pieces from Primark ,then pieces from Reiss. The work wear look I’m wearing in the bottom right image was the cheapest look I wore, but I think it looks like one of the most chic and expensive. Just the way you wear your clothes and put them together can make your look seem way more pricey than it actually was. In total the office look cost a total of £45, with the culottes being the most expensive purchase.

So it’s that easy! Getting dressed doesn’t have to be a chore and doesn’t have to be expensive, it should be affordable, fun and put a spring in your step. The confidence you get from wearing an outfit that makes you feel good is worth every penny and it certainly is fun.
Happy Shopping Fashionistas.

Thank you so much for reading. Comments and questions are welcome and would make me very happy.

Welcome to Style me with Love

Hello, Hola, Bonjour!

I am Emily and welcome to my new blog stylemewithlove!

Before I tell you about the blog let me start off with a bit about me.

I am 25 years old and have just returned back to the UK from a two year backpacking trip across South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South America.  Over the past two years I have been very lucky to see and experience some of the most amazing things in the world.  I can’t believe how quick it has gone, it has been the best time of my life.  Now I am moving on to a new exciting project which has been a goal of mine for years and that is to write and record all about my other big love FASHION! I know it sounds very cliché a twenty something girl with a love for fashion pursuing her dreams to become the next big fashion blogger/vlogger, and I can’t deny it I do fantasise that will happen however,  that is not the goal of the blog.  My goal is to show you guys how you can achieve affordable every day style and learn to love every item in your wardrobe.  If I can help just one person to realise how amazingly easy and fun style can be this blog would have already been very successful in my eyes.

And how do I plan to achieve this you ask? By doing the shopping for you of course.  I will be posting with advice on how to update your wardrobe each season with just a few key pieces that you can mix and match with the classics you already own.  I will show you exactly what you can achieve from investing in the right pieces and show you how to make the most of every piece in your wardrobe.  I am a keen bargain hunter and know that if you look at the right time of year you can save yourself so much money if you just know how to spot the key closet classics.

So my mission is set and clear.  I will do whatever it takes to achieve it.  Let’s have fun! Let’s go shopping!
